"The Sink" | A VR Training Application for Cognitive Disabilities

"The Sink" is a Virtual Reality training application that runs on the Meta Quest 2 (Oculus Quest 2) and teaches adults with cognitive disabilities how to bus tables in a restaurant and develop real world skills. Tasks that come easy to many of us are difficult to learn for others and this VR training takes people through simple step by step procedures in an engaging, easy to learn way.

The Sink is a real restaurant in Boulder Colorado that this environment is based on. An on-site trip was required to capture reference photography, textures and measurements.  A digital twin 3D model of the restaurant was modeled in 3D Studio Max and then setup in Unity where the interactivity was programmed and a mobile VR app for the Quest 2 was built.

Many unique 3d prop and furniture models were created to accurately capture the feel of the funky, well known Boulder restaurant who's low ceilings, graffiti art walls and dim light atmosphere make for an immersive VR experience!
